How Florida Title Insurance Premiums Are Calculated

Florida promulgates title insurance premiums, so every title company must charge the same premium for the same policy. The calculator applies the state rates to your price or loan amount.

Owner’s and lender’s policy rates (Rule 69O-186.003, Florida Administrative Code)
Amount of coverageRate per $1,000
Up to $100,000$5.75
$100,000 to $1 million$5.00
$1 million to $5 million$2.50
$5 million to $10 million$2.25
Over $10 million$2.00

Examples of owner’s policy premiums before endorsements: $1,325 on a $250,000 home, $1,825 on a $350,000 home and $2,575 on a $500,000 home. When a lender’s policy is issued with the owner’s policy on a purchase, the simultaneous issue rate is $25 plus endorsements.

What the Estimate Does Not Include

If the property was insured within the last three years, a lower reissue rate may apply, and we apply it in your final quote when it qualifies.

County recording fees, charged per page by the county clerk
Prorated property taxes and HOA or condo dues
HOA or condo estoppel certificate fees
Lender charges such as origination, appraisal and credit report fees
Prepaid homeowners insurance, interest and escrow deposits
Real estate commissions and the seller’s mortgage payoff
